Miters for Moldings aren't always best!
Cope Joint fit Coping Crown Molding

Often times wall and ceiling corners are never square and choosing a typical miter joint isn't always the best option. Coped crown molding can provide a tighter fit and it's often faster than guessing at miter angles.

Cutting your Coped Molding
  • Using your miter saw, make a 45 degree cut to your crown molding. Be sure and cut the right direction!
  • Clamp down your molding to provide steady and secure cutting.
  • Make a small starter slice behind the face of your crown with a knife. This will make it easier to begin cutting away the back of your crown molding.
  • Use a rasp or file to perfect your fit.
Coping crown molding offers aesthetic appeal as well as strong fitting functionality. Plan wisely and make coping molding an easy, alternative for any installation.
